Why
By joining Science for Bronx as a tutor, you not only receive the opportunity to foster valuable connections within our community, but you are also entitled to National Honor Society (NHS) credit. Per each tutoring session attended, you will receive one “tutoring” or “citizenship” credit — we will provide a letter of verification to the NHS upon request.
Expectations
Our tutors meet at the Bronx Science Flagpole after 9th period every Monday and Thursday. Leaving at 3:05, we walk in groups to the various middle schools in which we teach and assist at. Using a tailored curriculum accompanied by prep-books, our tutors help prepare students for the SHSAT until around 5:15. Attendance is not obligatory, but sincerely appreciated.
Transportation
The location of the New School for Leadership and the Arts makes commuting home easy. Tutors will typically either walk as a group back to Bronx Science to catch the 6:00 bus, walk to the Bedford Park train stations to catch the (B), (D), or (4), or walk to the nearby (1) train station on 231st Street.
